Landscaping with succulents in Carmel, Pebble Beach, Pacific Grove and Monterey

Updated: Nov 20, 2020

In Carmel, California we enjoy a Mediterranean climate which is characterized by long dry summers and mild wet winters. This mild climate supports a wide range of plant life and succulents are no exception. They simply thrive in the Carmel landscape due to the low relative humidity and fresh conditions. Succulents can grow in containers and in the ground provided they have good drainage. You will find succulents growing in every residential neighborhood in Monterey county. Agaves and Aloes when planted next to a boulder and paired with other succulents like Senecio serpens or low growing Sedums- makes for a beautiful presentation. The low water requirements of these striking plants is highly prized in the California landscape. The color of the foliage ranges from blue to silver to lime green and the striking architectural form of the rosette composition is bound to pop in the landscape. If you would like to design a drought tolerant landscape using various botanically interesting succulents, we can help.
