Monolithic Steps

Sometimes a steep slope can be a daunting challenge in landscape design. A traditional staircase could look out of place amongst the natural materials. For this design, we opted to create a cascading series of monolithic concrete steps of varying lengths to bring the client down this sunny slope off the back of their property. The small decomposed granite landings make this design more permeable than a traditional concrete staircase, and the alternating tread lengths add an organic form to the path. A few ledge-lights to illuminate the steps in the evening finish off this design and make it pop on warm summer nights.
